James Huffines

Central & South Texas Region Chairman

James Huffines has worked in the banking and financial services industry for more than 30 years. He graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance. He joined PlainsCapital in 2001.

Huffines is a long-time supporter of the University of Texas where he currently serves on the University of Texas System Board of Regents. He previously held the position of chairman from 2004 to 2007. He is a former board member of the UTIMCO Endowment.

Mr. Huffines currently serves on the board of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, where he chairs the Regional Infrastructure Committee.

Mr. Huffines also serves on the board of privately held Energy Future Holdings (formerly TXU Corp), and is the Chairman of the Audit Committee.  In addition, he serves on the boards of numerous private companies.

Huffines also participates in many community and business organizations, including serving as a member of the advisory board of Texas Lyceum; the Board of Trustees of the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum Foundation; the Executive Committee of the Chancellor's Council at the U. T. System; and a member of the Texas Philosophical Society. His previous community involvement also includes serving on the boards of Austin Caritas, the March of Dimes and the Austin Symphony Orchestra.
