Fraud FAQs

Helpful fraud information to help you with your banking needs.

Phishing is a common scam where fraudsters call and/or send text messages to customers from a “spoofed” PlainsCapital Bank phone number. The fraudster impersonates a bank employee, claims there is a problem with the customer’s account, and then asks for the customer’s account information such as user IDs, passwords, or text verification codes.

If you are suspicious about a request for personal information or the legitimacy of an inbound phone call, hang up, call your local branch or PlainsCapital Bank customer service at 866.762.8392, and ask to be transferred to the fraud department.

If you have accidentally given someone the following types of information, call us at one of the phone numbers listed at the bottom of this page:

  • Debit card number
  • Personal information, such as your Social Security number/ taxpayer identification number, date of birth, mother’s maiden name, etc.
  • Your PlainsCapital Bank online account sign-in information, including your user name and password
  • Checking or Savings account number

Also, report if your ATM card, debit card, or checkbook is lost or stolen so action can be taken to protect your account.

If you think you have received a suspicious email regarding your account but you have not acted on it:

Please contact PlainsCapital’s Call Center at 866.762.8392, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

We strongly urge you to call us right away if you think your account is at risk as that is the fastest way for us to assist you. However, if you would rather contact us electronically, please email us at reportfraud@plainscapital.com.
